Average Daily Agenda:
10 min. “starter”
Ex: Quiz, Journal Entry, ACT/SAGE Questions Question Analysis.
Students are expected to come in and get prepared for opener. If a student is tardy they may miss the starter activity. Points lost by missing the starter may not be made up, but 2 starter scores will be dropped at the end of the quarter.
During the starter, I will gather completion scores.
10 min. HW Questions
We will answer a few questions per day on the previous nights assignment. Students will write any questions they need help with on the white board -- including any pictures. This should happen as they are entering and finishing the starter.
We will not officially grade the assignment at this time, but an answer key will be available for them to check their work at the beginning of the unit. Students are welcome to check their work and make any corrections throughout the course of the unit. If a student does not do their work on time -- they will be docked on their completion grade, but still have an opportunity to earn points on their accuracy. By allowing extra time to work on the accuracy grades, I hope to focus on the learning of the concepts before the test happens.
55 min Lesson & Classwork
The majority of class will be spent filling out the note packet and working on the homework. Students will be given a note packet and a classwork packet on the first day of a new unit. We will alternate between notes and classwork to give students a head start on their homework and to help reinforce concepts.
Lessons will be recorded and posted on website so to aid in missing students and additional resources for struggling students.
10 min. Reference Guide
Students will spend the last 10 minutes of class working on their reference guide. We will be compiling a reference guide so that students can 1) Reinforce concepts they learned during class, and 2) Use the reference guide on future HW assignments and Quizzes. The reference guide will be randomly checked periodically throughout the quarter.
