Meet my family! I met my husband, Joe, 17 years ago at Snow College. He was the cute red head holding a calculus book ... and I was the freshman who had a thing for cute red heads! And calculus books! We started dating {almost} immediately and got married in June 2001. We transferred to Utah State University in 2002 and graduated just a few short years later. Him (2004) in Electrical Engineering and me (2005) in Math Education. Soon after we moved back to the Salt Lake valley to start our careers. I have 8 years of formal teaching experience under my belt. This will be my third year at Westlake.
We have three awesome kids. Jace is 8 and wants to design Legos when he is older or be an illustrator, as he has a passion for art. Elsie is 5 going on 15. She is spunky, opinionated, and a mini Diva. She is also kind, compassionate, and caring. I think she'd make an amazing doctor or nurse. My baby, Maren, is fun and growing up way too fast. She is learning how to talk and has a big personality too. She turned 2 last April. Between working a more than full time job and being the CEO of the Boucher household -- I don't have many extra interests right now besides transformers, princesses, and candyland, but we wouldn't have it any other way. (Oh ... and grading papers! So. Many. Papers!)
I knew that I wanted to teach math since I was in the 6th grade. I LOVE MATH. I remember spending part of my summer vacation with my dad watching some of the PBS math courses and doing the problems just for fun. It didn't take me long into my career to learn that math wasn't the best part of my job. The most rewarding part, the part that keeps me coming back, is working with my students. We have such wonderful kids in our area! It is an honor and privilege to work with them. The best complement I've ever had is when my students would come up to me and say ... "I hated math until you." or "This is the best math class I've ever had!" Best. Feeling. Ever!
This will start my 9th year teaching math. I spent 5 years teaching at a middle school in South Jordan and 1 year teaching at Bingham High before coming to Westlake. I love being a part of the Thunder community! Oh ... and this will be the year that I win Christmas Jars. Just. You. Wait.
